75th 4.26.2011

Don’t think I was gonna leave you out on the home cooked meal that went down this last weekend for my dad’s 75th bday in Cali. Both of my brothers were there and they are both rad cooks, so it was pretty easy to put our heads together and come up with a summer day meal for the family. To start I did a ceviche with shrimp, and scallops, it was a little too spicy for a few, but it was refreshing and I think capsaicin is a good way to wake up the palette. The ceviche was paired with a NV Perrier Jouet Brut. My younger brother butterflyed a beautiful organic free range chicken and grilled it perfect with a healthy dose of house jerk rub. The chicken was accompanied by a killer warm pasta my older brother did that starred fregola pasta, grilled corn, and lots of Parmigiano Reggiano. The main was paired with a 2004 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa which was really excellent, and yes I know a cab isn’t the perfect pairing for chicken, but the birthday boy loves great cab, so there.
